District #6 - South Hollow School
The Sixth District served the South Hollow, the community around the East Branch of the Farmington River at the south side of town, an area now mostly under the “lower reservoir.” In the early years this school also drew students from the Ratlum Mountain and Washington Hill areas. The first school in this district was built before 1811 but was lost to a fire in 1879. A new school built in 1881 served the area until 1933 when it was removed as part of the reservoir project. This school was sometimes referred to as the “Pine Hill School.”

6 boys, 6 girls. Said to be South Hollow in 1910 but no other picture shows South Hollow with shutters on the windows.
It is unclear where our copy came from, but the State Library has a copy in its Mills Collection. A note on the back of that copy identifies this as South Hollow Schools but gives no date or other information.
