Children at School in Barkhamsted
A collection of historical images.
As a part of our commitment to documenting as well as preserving the history of our community, The Barkhamsted Historical Society is collecting class photos and other pictures showing children at school from earlier years. We are attempting to identify the people in the pictures, and to make digital copies of these early images available to those doing family research.
In this binder we present copies of all available photos that show groups of students at any of the Barkhamsted schools. These are “working copies” that contain all the information that is currently available regarding the image. In a number of cases, numbers are superimposed over individuals to aid in identification, but these numbers will not appear on copies that are produced from these files.
Efforts continue to identify the age of the photos and the names of the students. In some cases even the identity of the school is in question. For these reasons each of the pictures is this collection is given a specific “MD” number that is based solely on when it was added to this collection. This in the number to use when requesting copies. Because this is very much a “work in progress,” so do feel free to add notes and/or additional information to these pages.
